Daniel Island places 2nd at City Meet!!

Congratulations to the Daniel Island Flying Fish for another successful swim season.

In addition to winning second place out of eighteen teams, DI also won their first Sportsmanship Award.  This award is voted on by the teams in the CCAA and represents all of the great efforts by the swimmers, coaches, and parents throughout the season to represent the Daniel Island Swim Team.

From the July 17 Post & Courier article:

"Rose van Metre, the head coach for Daniel Island, said she’s been impressed all season by her team. She said swimming times increased dramatically throughout the season and that their second-place finish shows how hard the team worked.

Last year, Daniel Island finished third. And en route to finishing second this year, the team also won the CCAA’s Sportsmanship Award.

“They brought that sportsmanship to the city meet as well,” van Metre said. “You want to foster swimming for our kids and give them the tools to take it to the next level if they want to. I think we do that here.”

van Metre said she felt like each of the teams did something special this weekend."
